Flux City Visits the Bookstore

There are more than a million stories on our shelves—but the story of the bookstore itself is one of our favorites.

Flux City stopped by to chat with John King, longtime manager Deb, manager Chris, and veteran bookseller Marley—who’s been part of the store for over 30 years—about what makes this place so special.

From the early days of selling books out of a car trunk to building this four-story maze of literature, the conversation spans decades of discovery. They share tales of Tiffany lamps rescued from dusty corners, the joy of unearthing forgotten treasures, and reflections on what it means to keep a place like this alive in the age of algorithms.

We hope you’ll take a moment to watch. And then come wander the stacks yourself—there’s always a new story waiting for you.

Watch the video below, or visit Flux City to see this and other great pieces celebrating the community that’s kept us turning pages all these years.
